Quizlet is a great tool for short quizzes of various forms and it is a great formative assessment tool.
Quizlet can be signed into with a number of services including Google. Classes can be set up and questions given or done in a number of formats and styles. The power of it is in the community sharing already made quizzes. In most cases, you can either just use a quiz as it is or copy and modify the quiz. This means that as a teacher you can hit the ground running. Recommending good Quizlet quizzes that have worked well is a great way to make it useful for others doing similar content. The free version is very good but you can’t add images or audio into your own quizzes.

Quizlet Live is superb in that it also builds soft skills of communication and teamwork. The leader of the quiz chooses “Live” as the option Members join your quiz via the code, quizlet assigns them into groups of three or four, they find their group members then when the game starts they work together to answer questions. The answer to the question will only be on one of the screens so they all have to interact. The teacher projects the scoreboard which has all groups trying to reach 12 correct questions in a row. A wrong question sends the team back to zero so it is game on until the end.

Now the cool bit is that you can sign into quizlet with existing Facebook or Google usernames and passwords. This is particularly good when you have a school Google account.
Getting the students to join in groups, communicate and collaborate is great and the process is very enjoyable (and quite manic!)
